The Indian cricket team suffered a huge blow ahead of the much-awaited ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket finally confirmed the news of Jasprit Bumrah getting ruled out of the marquee event. BCCI confirmed the news via a press release.

“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists,” said an official statement issued by the board.

After the BCCI announced the big news, social media was flooded with reactions from heartbroken fans. Among many, India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya also took to his social media and shared a special Tweet for Jasprit Bumrah.

Calling him “Jassi” Hardik Pandya backed Jasprit Bumrah to make a strong comeback. He wrote: “My Jassi 🦁 Come back stronger like you always do 👑❤️❤️  @Jaspritbumrah93″

Jasprit is the second important player from the Indian side to miss IPL 2022 after all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out last month due to a knee injury.

Jasprit was recently ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against South Africa after he complained of pain during the practice session in the lead-up to the series. He was taken for scans and was immediately sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for a detailed prognosis of the issue.

Bumrah recently made his comeback to the Indian team after being sidelined for over two months since suffering back spasms at the end of the England tour in July. He was rested and rehabilitated at the NCA in Bengaluru before returning to the Indian team after recovering from a back injury. He was a part of the 3-match T20I series against Australia, where he played in two games and picked only one wicket. His injury is far more severe, which is keeping him out of the World Cup 2022.

The remaining fast bowlers in India’s T20 World Cup side include Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar are the two likely contenders as they are part of the standby players.
