Harmanpreet Kaur cut a furious figure at the post-match presentation after the series-deciding ODI against Bangladesh ended in a tie in Dhaka on Saturday.
The India women’s captain even indirectly hinted that the hosts umpires, Muhammad Kamruzzman, Tanvir Ahmed, were biased toward the Bangladesh women’s team.
The series was levelled at 1-1 coming into the 3rd ODI. Batting first Bangladesh women scored 225/4, in reply to which India women were bowled out for 225 in the last over of the match.
There were at least 3 decisions where the Indian batters showed upsetness with the umpires in today’s match, and few more in the entire tour which comprised of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. Including one of those controversial decisions was that against Harmanpreet Kaur.
Harmanpreet Kaur herself had shown dissent after being given lbw out by smashing the stumps with her bat and having heated animated gestures with the umpire.
Harmanpreet Kaur furious with the Bangladeshi umpires
At the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet Kaur said that the umpiring was “pathetic” from the Bangladeshi umpires throughout the tour.
“A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised,” Harmanpreet said. “The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this this kind of umpiring and accordingly we’ll have to prepare ourselves.
“They [Bangladesh] batted really well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those singles which were very crucial. In between we leaked a few runs but when we were batting, we controlled the game very well but as I mentioned earlier some pathetic umpiring was done and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires.”
While India won the T20I series 2-1, the ODI series ended with a shared trophy in 1-1 at the third and series-deciding ODI was tied. There was no Super Over in this ODI series.
