The Delhi Capitals are keen to bring in Australian youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk as the replacement for Harry Brook, as the England batsman is likely to pull out from the IPL 2024 due to personal reasons.
25-year-old English sensation, Brook had withdrawn from the entire 5-Test series in India over the past two months, citing personal reasons.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals co-owner had touted Harry Brook to take up the lower-middle-order role, that of a finisher. However, the Capitals now will have to search for his replacement as the England batter is reportedly likely to pull out from partial of the entire IPL 2024 season. The Delhi Capitals, who have Ricky Ponting as their head coach, are close to signing Jake Fraser-McGurk as Brook’s replacement for this season.
According to a report in Code Sports, Jake Fraser-McGurk is in line to get his maiden IPL deal.
The report said, “One of Australia’s hottest young talents (Fraser-McGurk) is attracting interest from the Indian Premier League and could link up with an Australian all-time great (Ponting) as his coach.”
Harry Brook was released by SRH last year

Harry Brook was brought for INR 4 crore by the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 auction, after he was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad following a season that was disappointing, barring one innings.
Brook, 25, is one of the most talented and exciting young batters in the world, who averages 62 in Test cricket and 32 in T20 cricket. He was part of England’s World Cup 2023 squad, but couldn’t do much then as England had a poor tournament.
On Jake Fraser-McGurk, the 21-year-old youngster took the BBL 2023/24 season by storm with his attacking batting, both in the middle-order and as a top-order batter. He earned his maiden call-ups to Australia’s ODI and T20I squads following a thunderous BBL season. On his ODI debut against West Indies, he blasted 41 off 18 balls.

In the BBL, he scored 257 runs at a healthy strike rate of 158. Jake Fraser-McGurk plays his white-ball cricket with a boom or bust approach.
Delhi Capitals will start their IPL 2024 season on March 23 against Punjab Kings in Mohali.
