Harsha Bhogle Explained Why Mohammed Siraj Is A Special Bowler: Mohammed Siraj must have felt a little bit of extra pressure when he was told that he will be replacing Jasprit Bumrah for the series-deciding third ODI against England at Old Trafford.

Of course, not only Bumrah has been in terrific form, but Siraj himself hasn’t played a white-ball game for a while and had a disappointing IPL 2022 campaign.

There were concerns and doubts on social media for sure- with Siraj being picked over Shardul Thakur who would have added extra batting depth plus is a better bowler in the death than Siraj, who is more on the expensive side in limited-overs cricket.

Mohammed Siraj was lethal with his outswingers in the powerplay

Any doubts, any anxiousness was banished by Siraj in his first over itself and ‘Miyan’ was on his way rocking with the ball, celebrating with his teammates as he breathed fire in his first six balls that saw the dismissals of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root, both for ducks – the same treatment that Bumrah had consigned the pair in the first ODI.

On the first two balls to Bairstow, Siraj kept the line outside off-stump. On the third, he came into the batsman who tried to work it on the legside by closing the bat face but managed a leading edge which flew to mid-off where substitute fielder Shreyas Iyer took a dolly.

Root was done by Siraj via a beauty. Another superb outswinger that pitched on off and seamed away slightly but that was enough to take the outside edge of Root’s bat who was forced to play in the line. Rohit Sharma safely pouched the catch at the second slip.

Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle was quick to make his observation about Siraj. Bhogle hailed Siraj for his beautiful yet devastating outswinger that makes him a menace with the new ball.

“When Siraj takes the ball away, he becomes such a threat. I feared he was becoming a scrambled seam inward slant bowler. Excellent over,” Bhogle tweeted.

Although he started well, Siraj then went on to leak runs later in the innings, finishing with figures of 2/66 in 9 overs.
