Royal Challengers Bangalore’s superstar bowler Harshal Patel has been making a lot of news lately, courtesy of his brilliant performances in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
For the unversed, Harshal Patel first came into the limelight after he picked up 17 wickets in 15 appearances he made for RCB in the 2015 season of IPL. However, until 2020 he only featured in 18 games, wherein he also played for Delhi Capitals from 2018 to 2020. But his career took a sharp turn when he was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore after IPL 2020.
He returned with 32 wickets in 15 appearances for RCB and was the purple cap winner from the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League. All thanks to his terrific performances, his side sealed the playoffs spot in IPL 2021. The stylish cricketer was also bought back by RCB for a price of INR 10.75 Crores at the IPL 2022 mega-auctions.

Recently, during an interaction with Gaurav Kapur on his show Breakfast with Champions on YouTube, Harshal Patel recalled the IPL 2022 mega auction, where the RCB head Prathamesh Mishra raised the paddle in order to secure the services of Patel.
Harshal also revealed how his wife has predicted that his price will soon be in double figures. He said:
“The reverse happened this year, the moment my name was announced, the first paddle literally in the first second, Prathamesh Mishra, who’s the head of RCB. He raised his paddle in the first second and things began happening at lightning speed, and then it went beyond 6-7 Crores, my wife had told me it’ll become double figures. I said Whatever is above 7 cr is yours,”

Furthermore, Harshal went on to reveal the text message he received from RCB’s former captain Virat Kohli after the auction. Virat congratulated him for bagging a huge contract. He revealed:
“I was in the room (2022 Auction time) and I got a message from Virat Kohli, ‘Congrats on winning the lottery’. I said ‘yeah bro, won the lottery. Way beyond my expectations. And he said ‘Yeah, very well deserved’. You’ve given the prime of your life to something, and then it bears fruit after so much up and downs, that is the most gratifying thing for me,”
