Hashim Amla is one of the best batsmen in world cricket, across all three formats of the game. Over the years, Amla has played many brilliant innings for South Africa and established himself as a stalwart of modern day cricket.
Amla started his career as a Test batsman who could grind the opposition bowlers with his good technique and ability to bat for long hours. But, over the years, he has evolved his game and now he is one of the best batsmen in the world, in One Day International Cricket.
However, IOL, in an exclusive, reported a big development which is taking place in Hashim Amla’s cricket career.
It was reported that Hashim Amla has been approached by various counties, among them a London club, to prolong his playing career on the English county circuit. Earlier, South Africa’s fast bowler Morné Morkel was lined up by Warwickshire and this created a huge storm among Proteas fans as he is one of the best fast bowlers South Africa have ever produced.
Coming back to Hashim Amla, IOL reported that Amla can give a serious thought to Kolpak deal because he had a below par tour of England and, reportedly, he is not happy with the way he has been forced to change his batting style due to inconsistent opening partnerships in Test cricket.
“Proteas’ Test opening combination is also not functioning at the moment and this has routinely forced Amla to virtually open the innings and play in a role that goes against his natural attacking abilities, which has led to a profound impact on his success over the last couple of years and Amla’s own high-level performances dropping as a result,” IOL report said.
OUR VIEW: It is too early to say anything as these are just speculations and we haven’t heard anything about this move from Hashim Amla or any other South African cricketer. Amla is still going strong in his career and one failure in England doesn’t make him a bad player. He should (and will) continue playing international cricket for South Africa.
