Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting was rushed to the hospital following was is reported to be a “heart scare” on Friday during Day 3 play of the ongoing Perth Test match between Australia and West Indies.
Ponting had not been feeling well when he moved out of the commentary box at the stroke of lunch. And was soon hurried to the Perth Hospital from the Optus Stadium.
It has also been learned that Justin Langer, the former Australia head coach and former teammate of Ponting’s who was also present in the stadium for commentary duties, played a key role in Ponting being taken quickly to the hospital.
According to a report by Newscopt, Langer dashed toward Ponting after he came out of the commentary box following his 40-minute stint and helped him down the lift at the Optus Stadium to see the Australian team doctor Leigh Golding.
Ricky Ponting was then accompanied by both Justin Langer and Leigh Golding to the hospital.

The Australian media reports have further stated that Ponting was experiencing dizziness and will have to undergo some tests on the heart.
Fox Sports have provided some positive and relieving news that the nature of Ricky Ponting’s health scare is not thought to be serious, but he chose to get checked out after he was concerned with some symptoms he was experiencing.
“Ricky Ponting is unwell and will not be providing commentary for the remainder of today’s coverage,” a Channel 7 spokesperson was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.
“It’s not yet known if Ponting will return to commentate on Saturday, or the remainder of the Test.”
Upon learning what had transpired with Ponting, Australian Test skipper Pat Cummins said this at the end of the day’s play: “I wish Ricky the best. We were just chatting to him this morning out on the field. By all reports it sounds like he’s going okay. Anything like that is super scary, so we wish him the best.”
