While a lot of white-ball tournaments have been postponed, called off or are in line to be postponed, one tournament which will be most affected by the pandemic is the World Test Championship (WTC).

The World Test Championship is already on and a number of Test series which would have been in progress are at a halt.

Here’s How The ICC World Test Championship Final Might Get Effected Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

Every country has to play 6 Test series, 3 home and 3 away before the final of the championship takes place.

The final has to take place at the start of the next English summer at Lord’s. But there is no sign of any cricket for at least the next few months which means it’s not much of a possibility that all the planned Test series will be completed before the next English summer.

Even when cricket eventually resumes after the pandemic eases, ICC’s focus will probably be more on white-ball cricket as it will help in revenue generation and cover up the losses the boards might have suffered because of no cricket in the ongoing period.

Finding space in the calendar for all the Test series to be played under the World Test Championship (WTC) might be a very difficult task.

If ICC persists with its decision of all the countries having to play at least 6 Test series before the final, it is likely that the WTC might have to be pushed forward for a year.

But if ICC tinkers with it a little bit and cuts down the no. of Test series that each country has to play before the final, the WTC final might go on as per the schedule.

India has so far played 4 Test series under the World Test Championship and is topping the table as well with maximum points despite the fact that they got whitewashed by New Zealand in their last Test series.
