Ahead of the 2018 domestic season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently gave a 100% pay hike to the match referees, match umpires , match analysts and scorers. It was indeed a wonderful step taken by the BCCI. The 20 umpires of our country will now be earning Rs.40,000 per day for all the first class matches. And the rest of the umpires will get Rs.30,000 per day.

Talking about the T20 matches, the top 20 umpires of India is increased to  Rs 20,000 per match, while for the rest of the umpires the salary is  Rs 15,000.

The referees will be paid Rs 30,000 per day from now for all the matches. Earlier the pay was Rs.15000 per day.

However, if we compare the salaries paid by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to their umpires to the Indian umpires, there is a huge difference in the salaries. The difference is so much, that it will leave you stunned.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) only pays Rs 6,000 per day to the umpires on the elite panel with 17.5% for non-filters and 10% for the filters, while, the Grade-1 umpires are paid Rs.5,500 per day.

While Saba Karim, BCCI’s General Manager of BCCI feels that the umpires, referees, and all these people are the back-bone of any game and feels that the efforts and hardwork of them should be acknowledged.

On the other hand, the salary that PCB is paying to it’s umpire doesn’t justify the hardwork they do.

However, PCB has made some changes in the payment structure. From now onwards, PCB will only be paying to the players who are a part of playing XI of the team, instead of giving stipend to all the 20 players.
