Another day, another thriller. IPL witnessed a pulsating contest as Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore locked horns against each other. Riding on the powerful performance of Ishan Kishan and the big hitter Kieron Pollard, Mumbai Indians staged an impressive comeback with the bat that eventually led to a Super-Over against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Chasing a total of 201 runs, Mumbai Indians got off to the worst start to their innings as they lost 3 wickets in quick successions until Ishan Kishan walked in. Ishan Kishan walked in and took the match by storm. He formed a formidable partnership with Kieron Pollard and played an innings of his life as he registered his IPL score. However, his amazing innings witnessed a heartbreaking climax as he was dismissed on 99 runs.
Here’s The Reason Why Ishan Kishan Didn’t Bat In The Super Over
Following his powerful performance, everyone was expecting that the skipper will send Ishan Kishan to face the super-over along with Kieron Pollard. However, to everyone’s surprise, the skipper sent his all-rounding star Hardik Pandya along with Kieron Pollard.
RCB’s talented bowler Navdeep Saini just gave away seven runs in the super-over and also took the wicket of Kieron Pollard, leaving Hardik struggling for connection.
Here’s The Reason Why Ishan Kishan Didn’t Bat In The Super Over
After the match, the skipper of Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind not sending Ishan Kishan to bat in the Super-Over. As per Rohit Sharma, Ishan was completely drained and wasn’t fresh at the moment to bat in the Super-Over.
Rohit also said that since Hardik Pandya is known for his big-hitting shots, he decided to go for him and not Ishan. He revealed:
“He (Kishan) was drained out and was not comfortable. We thought we could send him but he was not feeling fresh. Hardik is somebody we trust to hit long balls, it is not coming off but we are confident he can pull things off for us. I mean 7 runs you need to have luck on your side, we had to get wickets but there was also an unfortunate boundary. We came back really well and a lot of positives to take away from this game.”
