At the end of another exciting day of the India vs. England Test series, fans noticed something unusual. During the second day of play in Ranchi, the BCCI commentators and production crews were spotted wearing black armbands. However, the reason behind this wasn’t disclosed to the fans.

Why BCCI Commentators And Crew Were Wearing Black Armbands?

The reason for the black armbands worn by the Indian commentators and production crews was revealed to be a tragic loss within their family. Earlier that day, Kamalanadimuthu Thiruvalluvan, affectionately known as Thiru, a cameraman with many years of service at the Indian Cricket Board, passed away. Thiru’s contributions and dedication to his work made him a valued member of the BCCI team, and his loss was deeply felt by all who knew him.

Sharing a tribute video, the BCCI wrote: “The BCCI production crew wore black armbands in memory of Thiru who passed away yesterday. Our heart goes out to his near and dear ones and the BCCI offers it’s condolences to his family.”

Thiru, regarded as one of India’s top sports cameramen, was on duty during the WPL 2024 season opener between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru. He completed his work for the match yesterday but tragically passed away today. In honor of Thiru, one of its longest-serving employees, the BCCI paid tribute by wearing black armbands.
