Herschelle Gibbs Insulted Bangladeshi Players For Their Lack Of Understanding

Herschelle Gibbs is having a tough time in the ongoing BPL 2019-20. Gibbs is not enjoying his stint as the head coach of the Sylhet Thunder as his team has already lost 7 out of 8 matches they have played till now. Language has become a big problem for Gibbs.

As per him, he believes that he is not able to deliver his message properly to the players due to the language barrier between him and the players. He is frustrated with the fact that the local Bangladesh players don’t understand English.

Recently, talking to the Dhaka Tribune, Herschelle Gibbs opened about the same. He said:

“About local players, a lot of them don’t understand English. So, it’s difficult for me to make points all the time. It’s a frustrating thing. When I talk with them I can see that they are listening but they are not really syncing in,”

He added:

I think the understanding of the game needs to be improved. And another thing is, they are very temperamental. I mean it’s difficult for me to explain to them because they don’t understand it properly,”

Giving an instance, Gibbs revealed how he was not able to deliver his message properly to Rubel Mia, who recently made his debut in BPL against the Tigers in Mirpur. He said:

I will give you an example. The other day Rubel Mia was opening the batting and he was on 14 off 28 deliveries. I walked on to the field during time-out and I said to him, ‘What is happening, you got 14 off 28 balls?’ And in reply, he just shook his head! It’s not his fault solely but this is the reality,”

Sylhet Thunder will now be seen locking horns with the Cummila Warriors. This might be their last chance to stay in the league as another defeat will lead them straight out to the exit.
