"I Never Said This": Adam Gilchrist Slammed A Pakistani Fan For Spreading Fake News

Australian legend Adam Gilchrist has called out a Pakistani fan for spreading fake news and using “made up quotes” on his name.

A major bane of social media in today’s time is how easily it is possible to spread fake news and sensationalize quotes and words that were never said.

This is what happened with Adam Gilchrist as a Pakistani facebook page spread a quote apparently from the commentator trolling the Pakistan team for their loss in the Test series in Australia.

Shan Masood’s side, despite playing well in phases and much better than what any Pakistani team had fared in Australia this century, lost the Test series 3-0, with David Warner getting the perfect farewell from Test cricket.

A Pakistani Facebook page ran a quote, purportedly from Adam Gilchrist saying that Pakistan is the “worst Asian team in Australian conditions”.

Gilchrist came to know about this news and promptly cleared the air on Twitter. He praised Pakistan team for their fight, especially in the last two Tests.

Adam Gilchrist tweeted: “I never said this. Absolutely fake, made up quotes. Pakistan were excellent at times this summer, against a World Champion Aust team and very nearly pinched a Test or two. #fakenews #ignore”

After the MCG Test, Gilchrist had tweeted about how Pakistan showed great fight multiple times in the series, even taking a first innings lead in Sydney. He commended Shan Masood for his brilliant captaincy on the field and leadership off it.

“Congrats @patcummins30 and team on series win. Won the 50/50 moments at MCG. Loved seeing @TheRealPCB fight hard, led beautifully by Shan Mahsood,” Gilchrist had tweeted.

Pakistan next play 5  T20Is in New Zealand.
