KL Rahul is one of the most stylish batsmen in world cricket. He has a very solid technique and he can make batting look easy with his class and elegant stroke-making. Right from his debut game, cricket pundits and fans in India have been backing KL Rahul as they believe that the Karnataka batter has in him what it takes to make it big at the international level.
However, after his poor run leading to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and also in the World Cup, there was disappointment among fans and analysts but Virat Kohli and the national selectors kept his faith in him and now they can proudly say that they made the right decision.
In the last couple of months, KL Rahul has shown to the world that he is capable of winnings matches with his bat and he can score runs even in the overseas conditions. In the recently concluded T20I series between New Zealand and India, KL Rahul was one of the best performers and it was his aggression and solidity at the top of the order that allowed India to post and chase totals throughout the series.
KL Rahul also kept wickets and allowed India to play an extra all-rounder leading to a more balanced team. Indian cricket fans praised Rahul on social media for taking up the role of wicketkeeping and doing it well throughout the 5-match T20I series.
In the fifth and final match of the series, KL Rahul scored 45 runs off just 33 balls and gave India a good start with Rohit Sharma. During his innings, KL Rahul played a brilliant looking drive over extra cover that attracted the attention of former West Indian cricketer Ian Bishop, who took to Twitter and posted a beautiful message praising Rahul’s six over deep extra cover.
Here’s what he tweeted:
“If KL Rahul doesn’t score another run ever, that drive over extra cover for six should be immortalized in a logo,” Ian Bishop wrote on Twitter.
