However, he is now all set to return back to the ground as he will once again don the Captain’s armband for his team Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Well, not just fans but seems like Ian Smith, the former New Zealand player turned commentator is also missing the absence of MS Dhoni on-field.
Recently, Ian Smith heaped praises on the former Indian skipper, Dhoni. He said that no one can replace MS Dhoni in team India and it is not possible that players won’t miss his absence on the cricket field.
He also said how Dhoni almost won team India the semi-final of World Cup 2019. He also expressed how he admires him and loves talking about Dhoni. He said:
“How can you not miss MS Dhoni on a cricket field? He has been a great leader and a great finisher. He almost won you the World Cup [2019] semi-final. I admire him and love talking about him, but time moves on and at some stage, you have to accept that new generation will get a chance,”
