Indian keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been receiving criticism from all corners because of his consistently poor performances for a long time now. However, despite his poor performances and bad form, Indian management has given him ‘n’ number of opportunities and has shown an ample amount of trust in him. But the cricketer has failed to convert the given opportunities into success.

Rishabh Pant was considered as the next big sensation when he was discovered. His clean hitters against arch-rivals like Australia and England, Rishabh Pant had gained himself respect and love from all his cricket fans. Besides, his batting performances, Rishabh Pant had also impressed everyone with his keeping-skills, so much so that he was considered as MS Dhoni’s successor in the Indian team.
Rishabh Pant also had a phenomenal start to his Test career. However, the table has turned drastically for the keeper-batsman. He has miserably failed to perform at the best of his abilities in all the opportunities given to him in recent times. He has not shown consistency or maturity with the willow in recent times and thus has been under the scanner of critics.
In the ongoing tour to New Zealand as well, Rishabh Pant shattered all the expectations of the Indian cricket fans that were placed on his young shoulders. Once again Rishabh Pant has found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling after he failed to perform in the must-win second test match against New Zealand as he was dismissed after scoring only 12 runs.
Ian Smith Predicts Rishabh Pant’s Future In The Indian Cricket Team
While he has been receiving criticism from all corners, there are many top names who have come up in support of him. Ian Smith, the former Kiwi player has talked highly of Rishabh Pant’s career.
Ian Smith said that Pant is going to be a great performer for Team India in the future. In an interview, he agreed to the fact that is currently going through a tough phase but his future is very bright. He said:
“We are going to see a lot of Pant. It’s not about just playing the game but living it. Maybe, he has to learn a few things and they [team management] are teaching him the virtues of patience. The name of Rishabh Pant will be bigger in Indian cricket. Mark my words”
