Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran made an astonishing statement that has created stir on social media after the win over Pakistan in their World Cup 2023 match that is going viral.

After 7 losses in ODI cricket to Pakistan, a couple of them really close ones, Afghanistan finally defeated Pakistan in ODIs. And what a time to do it: Pakistan now have lost three matches in a row – to India, Australia, and Afghanistan – after winning their first two matches to Netherlands and Sri Lanka. Pakistan now don’t have any room for error, and they can’t afford another loss if they have to reach the World Cup 2023 semi-finals.

Afghanistan had defeated 2019 World Cup winners England 8 days ago and now they have defeated the 1992 World Cup winners, Pakistan.

Ibrahim Zadran scored 87 runs with the help of 10 fours and stood like a rock, tacking the new ball movement of Shaheen Afridi, and Hasan Ali, high pace of Haris Rauf, and then the spinners Shadab and Usama.

Ibrahim Zadran was named the Player of the Match for Afghanistan’s historic win over Pakistan. In his speech, Ibrahim Zadran made a big politicial and controversial statement, dedicating his award to the people who have been forcefully sent back from Pakistan to Afghanistan!

This statement from Ibrahim Zadran dropped like a bombshell on Twitter as fans were left stunned.

For Pakistan, Babar Azam top-scored with 74, Shafique scored 58, and Shadab and Iftikhar scored 40 runs each to take Pakistan to a total of 282. Many thought that this total would be enough for Pakistan to defend. However, Afghanistan remained steady and smart throughout their chase and never panicked. They were helped out by some poor fielding from Pakistanis and captaincy decisions from Babar.

Their top three all scored half-centuries: Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 65 runs, Ibrahim Zadran scored 87 runs, and Rahmat Shah scored 77 unbeaten runs. Captain and number 4 Hashmatullah Shahidi also played brilliantly to score 48* runs in 45 balls.

Zadran added: “Thankful that I performed well in this event. I wanted to play with a positive intent. Many times Gurbaz and I have done a brilliant partnership together. We have played a lot of cricket together, right from the Under-16 days. I am feeling very glad for myself and for my country.”
