On the evening of Saturday, 25 November, Ibrahim Zadran put out a tweet to remember his match-winning knock against Pakistan in Chennai in the recently-concluded World Cup 2023 tournament.
However, as soon as Ibrahim Zadran tweeted, fans found an eerily similarity between his tweet on Afghanistan’s win and his Man of the Match performance against Pakistan and the tweet that Virat Kohli had made last year following his epic knock against Pakistan at the MCG in the T20 World Cup 2022.
About a month ago, Pakistan and Afghanistan had met in Chennai for a crucial World Cup encounter, and Afghanistan managed to defeat Pakistan for the first time in ODI cricket.
Chasing the target of 283 runs, Ibrahim Zadran held the innings together with his innings of 87 runs in 113 balls while others around him batted aggressively. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 65 runs, Rahmat Shah scored 77* and Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 48* to take Afghanistan to a historic night and the night filled with celebrations back home.
Ibrahim Zadran almost copy-pasted Virat Kohli’ss tweet
Recently, Ibrahim Zadran posted this tweet, remembering his match-winning knock and Afghanistan’s win over Pakistan in the World Cup.
“October 23rd 2023 will always be special in my heart. Never felt energetic like that in a cricket game before. What a blessed evening that was,” Ibrahim Zadran tweeted.
It took seconds for fans to recall Virat Kohli’s tweet on his memorable knock at the MCG last year.
Virat Kohli had tweeted: “October 23rd 2022 will always be special in my heart. Never felt energy like that in a cricket game before. What a blessed evening that was”
Fans reckoned that Ibrahim Zadran apparently wanted to troll the Pakistani fans and hence copied Virat Kohli’s tweet.
Zadran had an impressive World Cup tournament, scoring 376 runs at an average of 47. Zadran was the only century-scorer for Afghanistan in the World Cup, hitting a terrific ton against Australia at the Wankhede stadium.
