India’s middle order batsman Manish Pandey has been ruled out of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 due to a side strain and will be replaced in the squad by wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik.
Pandey, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL, suffered a side strain during a practice session. Pandey has been in good form in the ongoing IPL and he will be very disappoint to miss out on such a big opportunity.
Dinesh Karthik, who was one of the five standbys named by the Indian selectors while announcing the 15-member squad for the tournament, will now travel to England with Team India for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
Karthik has been in brilliant form in the IPL 2017. In 14 matches, Karthik scored 361 runs at an impressive average of 36 and strike rate of almost 140, for The Gujarat Lions.
