India lost to Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 finals, and Sanjay Manjrekar hopes for revenge in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Australia clinched their sixth ODI World Cup title, solidifying their record as the nation with the most World Cup victories in cricket history.
Despite a 10-match winning streak, Rohit Sharma’s team faced defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 finals against Australia. India hasn’t won an ICC trophy in 11 years, with their last victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s leadership. The Men in Blue aim for another chance at glory in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled for June 2024.
Sanjay Manjrekar Wants A Revenge For ODI World Cup 2023
Sanjay Manjrekar, the former cricketer turned commentator, expressed his desire to see the Men in Blue avenge their heartbreaking loss to Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 finals by beating them in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
In a light-hearted remark, he mentioned that a victory over Australia in the T20 World Cup would be therapeutic for him, considering it took some therapy and considerable time to recover from the ODI World Cup finals defeat against Australia. Manjrekar said:
“I want to see India beat Australia for a simple reason- it will just help my state of mind truly. After that loss, we were there watching it live. It took a couple of weeks of long therapy for me to get back to this work. The therapy is complete but if India beats Australia in that World Cup I don’t think I’ll need it anymore. So it’s very important for India to beat Australia and then England as well.”
#SanjayManjrekar is hoping that #TeamIndia defeat #Australia at the T20WC, just to ease the hurt of the #WorldCup23 Final loss.
