IND vs AFG: Fans Slam Rohit Sharma For Showing Anger At Young Shubman Gill After Getting Run-Out

India captain and opener Rohit Sharma was a furious man and expressed his anger to the tilt at young Shubman Gill after getting run-out in the first T20I against Afghanistan.

This game in Mohali marked the return of Rohit Sharma to India’s T20I XI after a gap of more than 13 months. With only 3 T20Is remaining for India to play until the T20 World Cup, Sharma would have hoped to get into the T20 groove and carry on his form from the World Cup 2023 to the T20Is.

However, the first of three chances in this series was wasted as was out for a two-ball duck in Mohali after getting in a mix-up with Shubman Gill.

Rohit wanted to take down pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi in the first over itself. He charged down the pitch, played a good off-drive, and ran off for a quick single. However, Ibrahim Zadran made a terrific fielding effort at mid-off to dave the ball with a superb dive.

Rohit had run more than half of the pitch after playing his stroke while Gill was only ball-watching. Ibrahim Zadran got up and observing that both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are at the non-striker’s end, he threw the ball to the striker’s end to the wicket-keeper who whipped the bails. Since Gill had got back in his crease before Rohit Sharma did, the India captain was the one who was run out.

Rohit was livid with Gill and hurled out some words in anger. He even gestured furiously with his hand that Gill should have run.

Whoever’s fault it was, fans are unhappy with Rohit Sharma for showing so much anger at his teammate, let alone a 24-year-old youngster who is in the initial phase of his international career.
