IND vs AUS

IND vs AUS: The Indian cricket team put up a stellar show in Nagpur and hammered Australia by innings and 132 runs in the first Test in Nagpur to take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. The result of the ongoing series will play a pivotal role in deciding the finalists of the World Test Championship.

Talking about the match the first Test of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy kicked off in Nagpur on February 9, on a brilliant note for the Indian cricket team. After bowling the Australians 177 runs, the Indian cricket team produced a commanding performance.

Rohit Sharma led the team in style by playing a captain’s knock. He registered his maiden Test ton against Australia on Day 2 and was dismissed after scoring 120 runs off 212 balls, smashing 15 fours and 2 stunning sixes. After a stunning century by the Indian captain, Indian lower-order batters Axar Patel (84) and Mohammad Shami (37) put on 52 runs for the ninth wicket to put India on top. Australia has bundled out India for exactly 400.

Coming into day 3, the Indian side had a lead of 144 runs in the first innings with three wickets in hand. Ravindra Jadeja (70) was the first one to go in the morning session without adding much to his overnight score of 66. Axar Patel continued to bat well and scored 84 runs off 174 deliveries and was the last man to get dismissed.

It was going to be a tough job for the Australian cricket team to chase the target in the second innings but the way they crumbled in just one session, getting bowled out for 91 in just 32.3 overs would give their camp some nightmares. Ashwin ran through the Australian batting line-up and completed his 31st five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

Ashwin’s partner in crime Mohammed Shami also struck immediately. Ashwin dismissed Usman Khawaja (5) and David Warner (10). In between Ravindra Jadeja trapped Marnus Labuschagne. Two overs later, Ashwin did the same to Matt Renshaw (2) as Australia’s scorecard read 42-4 in 15.2 overs.

Though, Steve Smith provided some resistance from one end, however, Ashwin was unstoppable. He dismissed Peter Handscomb (6) by lbw. Alex Carey (10) tried to reverse sweep his way out of trouble but Ashwin also dismissed him by lbw again. Pat Cummins (1) was caught behind off Jadeja, while Todd Murphy (2) was caught off Patel to make it 75-8.

Mohammed Shami bowled Nathan Lyon (8) and Scott Boland (0) was out lbw to Shami to end the Australian innings.

Meanwhile, fans on social media were thrilled with the performance of the Indian players and came up with hilarious memes to celebrate the victory.
