Trendulkar Applauds Pat Cummins’ Ball That Bowled Rohit Sharma, Says “A Great Sight To Watch”

Australia captain and fast bowler Pat Cummins had been having a forgettable time with the ball until he produced a jaffa to castle India skipper Rohit Sharma.

Cummins had conceded 50 runs in his first 11 overs of India’s first innings. Rohit Sharma had started off India’s innings with three consecutive boundaries off Cummins on Day 1, and in the first session of Day 2, he had pulled the Aussie skipper for a stunning sixer.

Sharma went on to score a century and take India ahead of Australia’s first innings total of 177. Finally, at the start of the third session on Day 2, soon after Cummins had taken the second new ball, he burst through Rohit Sharma as the opener went for a straight drive. But the new ball swung a little away, beating Sharma’s outside edge and hit the off-stump, sending the off pole for a cartwheel ride.

Trendulkar reacts to Pat Cummins’ stunning delivery that bowled Rohit Sharma

It was a snorter of delivery from Cummins – as perfect as one could imagine hitting the top of off – which earned praise from all corners of social media, including from the renowned Twitter account “Trendulkar” which is a parody fan account of Sachin Tendulkar.

Trendulkar said that even though it is the opposition taking the Indian skipper’s wicket, it is always a sigh to behold when a fast bowler sends the off-stump for a toss.

“A flying off-stump is always a great sight to watch in Test Cricket, even if it’s produced by the opposition,” Trendulkar tweeted, and this tweet has now gone viral.

Meanwhile, India have taken a stronghold in the Nagpur Test with a lead of 144 runs and both Jadeja and Axar remaining unbeaten at the end of Day 2 following their respective fifties. Rohit Sharma starred with his 9th Test ton earlier in the day.
