“Tough times don’t last but tough people do.” India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was returning to action after a gap of five months, silenced his critics in style as he picked a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against Australia in Nagpur. Jadeja ran through the Australian middle-order on the opening day of 1st match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and registered his 11th five-wicket haul.

Returning with figures of 5 for 47, helped India bowl out Australia for 177 in just a shade over two sessions. Interestingly, Jadeja, who is hailed as the number 1 all-rounder around the world, was playing his first international match since the Asia Cup group stages last year. Before the ongoing match, Jadeja’s last game for India was against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup last August. Following this, he was out of action due to a knee injury and had missed the T20 World Cup last year, where his absence was badly felt.

Jadeja picked up all five wickets in one in the second session on Thursday. He started his stellar performance by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne who was one run shy of his maiden Test fifty in India.  He then sent back Matt Renshaw for a golden duck after the latter missed an attempted flick shot.

Jadeja also got the big wicket of star batter Steve Smith. On the next ball, he trapped Matt Renshaw in front of the wickets for a golden duck. He also dismissed Todd Murphy. Jadeja returned to end the stay of Steve Smith in the middle in the 42nd over of the Australian innings. Jadeja (5/47) then trapped Peter Handscomb (31) in the final session of the day.

Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with amazing reactions from cricket lovers. From cricketers and experts to fans, everyone took to social media to hail the brilliance of Ravindra Jadeja.

Among many, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina also took to his social media and posted a special tweet for the star all-rounder. In his Tweet, Suresh Raina hailed the brilliant comeback by Jadeja and called him a magician. He wrote:

“What a brilliant comeback by @imjadeja 🙌 Working like a magician always, congratulations on the 5 wicket haul champion! 🔥💯#INDvsAUS”
