IND vs AUS World Cup 2023: 3 Flops Of The Game

IND vs AUS World Cup 2023: The thrilling India vs. Australia clash at the 2023 World Cup saw the Men in Blue experience both moments of brilliance and despair. While the Indian bowlers delivered a commendable performance, limiting the Aussies to a modest total of 199, the top order of the Indian batting lineup faced setbacks. In this article, we will delve into the pivotal moments that defined the game, including the struggles of Ishan Kishan, Adam Zampa, and Mitchell Marsh.

IND vs AUS World Cup 2023: 3 Flops Of The Game:

1. Ishan Kishan

Shubman Gill‘s unfortunate bout with dengue opened the door for Ishan Kishan, who made his World Cup debut by slotting in at the top of the order. However, his maiden World Cup outing didn’t go as planned, lasting just a single ball. Kishan, eager to make an impact, attempted to send the very first delivery he faced from Mitchell Starc to the boundary, but his aggressive approach led to his downfall.

Regrettably, the outward movement of the ball found the edge of Kishan’s bat, resulting in a safe catch by Cameron Green at slip. It was indeed a loose shot from the left-hander, who should have exercised more caution against one of the most successful bowlers in World Cup history.

While Kishan showcased his athleticism on the field, his primary department with the bat was forgettable on this occasion.

2. Adam Zampa

The pitch at Chepauk favored spinners, setting the stage for a potential impact from Adam Zampa. With a target of 200 to defend, Zampa was expected to trouble the Indian batsmen. However, things didn’t go according to plan for the Australian spinner.

Zampa’s figures of 8 overs for 53 runs without taking any wickets were far from impressive. His struggles began in the very first over of his spell when Rahul aggressively dispatched him for three boundaries. Zampa seemed to have difficulty finding the right length and line throughout his spell, oscillating between deliveries that were either too full or too short.

On a spin-friendly wicket, where his team desperately needed him to make an impact, Zampa failed to deliver, and his wayward bowling cost Australia dearly.

3. Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh had a game to forget as he faced disappointments both with the bat and in the field. With the bat, Marsh registered a duck, falling victim to a dismissal by Jasprit Bumrah. However, it was in the field where his performance left a more significant mark on the game.

On the third ball of the 8th over, Marsh dropped a straightforward catch of the former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who was batting at a score of 12. This drop could have potentially ended India’s hopes, but Kohli went on to make the most of the reprieve. He played a crucial innings, scoring 85 runs off 116 balls, and led India to a remarkable victory.

Marsh’s dropped catch proved to be a pivotal moment in the match, and it was undoubtedly a horror game for the Australian all-rounder.
