Young Indian opener Ishan Kishan brought carnage in Chattogram, where India and Bangladesh cricket teams are locking horns in the ongoing 3rd ODI match. Ishan Kishan slammed a stunning double hundred during India’s third ODI against Bangladesh at Chattogram. Ishan Kishan was added to the playing XI as a replacement for captain Rohit Sharma after the Indian captain was ruled out due to a thumb injury. The 24-year-old set the stage on fire as he walked out to bat with all-guns-blazing and took the game by storm.
Ishan made the most of the chance given to him by the Indian team management as he helped the Indian side recover after the early wicket of Shikhar Dhawan along with Virat Kohli. He formed an amazing partnership with Virat Kohli and together the duo smashed the Bangladesh bowlers to all the corners of the ground. The stylish youngster reached his double century in just 126 balls with the help of 23 fours and 9 sixes. He reached his maiden ODI hundred in 85 balls and then took 18 balls to reach 150 and then 23 more to reach the double hundred.
With his sensational knock, Ishan created history as he became the fourth Indian and seventh batter overall to score a double century in ODI matches. He has joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma (three times), Chris Gayle of the West Indies, Martin Guptill of New Zealand, and Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman in the elite list of batters who have smashed a double ton in the 50-overs format of the game.
Ishan Kishan broke Chris Gayle’s record for the fastest double century in ODI history. Chris Gayle took 138 balls to reach the double century in a match against Zimbabwe during the 2015 ODI World Cup. Kishan bettered the record by a massive 12 deliveries and also became the youngest cricketer to breach the 200-run mark in ODIs. But that’s not just the only record Ishan broke with his sensational knock. Check out some more records Ishan broke:
