Alex Hales – 86* off 47 balls; Jos Buttler – 80* off 49. 170/0. A run-chase made look so easy by the two England openers, and so embarrassing for the Indian team, that even the Guinness World Records couldn’t help but troll the Men In Blue!
The Guinness World Records Twitter handle perhaps hasn’t such a huge amount of likes and engagement as it got with a five-word tweet on Thursday evening following India’s semi-final loss in the T20 World Cup 2022 to England in Adelaide.
Two Englishmen – Hales and Buttler – became the harbinger of heartbreaks, despondency, sadness, and uproar in the second-most populated country in the world, India, as they gunned down the target of 169 with utter, unbelievable ease, knocking out the team which the broadcaster, and perhaps even the governing body wanted to see in the final, pitting against their neighbors and arch-rivals. Alas, it is not to be.
Guinness World Records trolls Team India on Twitter
As Hales and Buttler brought carnage on the Indian bowlers and it had become clear that victory was only a formality remaining for England, the Guinness World Records Twitter handle trolled Team India.
“Easiest run chase in history?,” Guinness World Records tweeted, suggesting whether such a record is possible.

In the post-match presentation, India captain Rohit Sharma said that it was a disappointing loss. Also surprisingly, Sharma said India batted well – despite the score looking below-par even before England openers started hitting boundaries – and he reckoned it was the bowling that wasn’t “up to the mark”.
“Pretty disappointed how it turned up today. We batted well at the backend to get that score. We were not up to the mark with the ball, we couldn’t turn up today. It’s all about handling the pressure in knockout games. All these guys have played enough to understand that,” Rohit said.
