IND vs ENG: It was as comprehensive a display as India would have hoped for against the reigning ODI World Champions, that too in their own backyard as Rohit Sharma’s side downed England by 10 wickets on Tuesday in the first ODI of the series, at The Oval.
A paltry target of 111 runs was chased down by the Men In Blue in 18.4 overs with all 10 wickets in hand. Skipper Rohit Sharma‘s return to form was a big boost to his own confidence as the opener smashed 76* runs off 58 balls while Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten on 31.
But the game was won by India with the ball, or perhaps only in the first 15 overs of England’s innings. Indian bowlers were right on the money from the first over. In the batting powerplay, Bumrah and Shami wreaked havoc upon the hosts’ batting line-up.
Bumrah and Shami combine to take 9 wickets in 1st IND vs ENG ODI

Bumrah’s bowling figures by the end of his first spell of five overs read: 5-2-9-4 – wickets of Jason Roy, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone – while Shami dismissed Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler in his three-for.
England lost 5 wickets in the first 8 overs and were 8 down, including the dismissal of skipper Jos Buttler, by the 17-over mark. Four of England’s top six were dismissed for a duck; their new skipper Jos Buttler scored 30 and was caught in the deep trying to put some pressure back on India.
By the time the 15th over was done, with Krishna also getting into the act, the visitors had effectively sealed the game. Bumrah then returned to castle a couple of tailenders to register this first ODI six-wicket haul; his figures of 6/19 are now the third-best by an Indian bowler, only behind Stuart Binny’s 6/4 and Anil Kumble’s 6/12.
Fans on Twitter hailed Bumrah for his exceptional bowling performance while also trolled England for their shocking, dismal batting show.

What is the procedure to bubble wrap a certain person and keep them locked away in a safe forever?
Asking for a Jasprit Bumrah.

England should keep losing so that we get to see this poetic side of Jos Buttler more often #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/8HYlgnMJQ0

An absolute drubbing at the Oval: India chase 111 without loss to win by 10 wickets. Game done inside four hours after it started, and long before the lights were required. Bit of a humbling for England.

Holy shit. If there is anything on the deck, this Indian pace attack would absolutely decimate opposition batting units.
