Mohammed Shami, Suryakumar Yadav, Robin Uthappa, Kuldeep Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Rahul Tripathi, and now Shubman Gill – this is the list of players (and many feel there could be more) who have attained greater success in their careers after leaving the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The latest entrant in this list, Shubman Gill, has, in fact, had a dream time since leaving KKR ahead of IPL 2022, when KKR released Gill, a young player who they had picked in 2018 and kept him till 2021. But when the time came to reap the rewards of the ripen fruit, KKR made a baffling decision to release him and retain the likes of Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy along with Narine and Russell.

Apart from Gill succeeding big time for hiss new franchise Gujarat Titans and for India, to make matters worse for KKR, their retentions Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy had a poor IPL 2022 and were dropped from the XI. Maybe they should try leaving KKR in that case! (No offense KKR)

This pattern of a number of playing having an upsurge after leaving KKR has been noticed by many fans. Among those, renowned comedian Abijit Ganguly, who has a handsome Twitter following of 94,000 fans, made a hilarious tweet while trolling KKR.

“Leaving KKR is the cheatcode to achieving full potential in Indian cricket,” Abijit Ganguly tweeted following Shubman Gill’s maiden T20I hundred.

Shubman Gill enters list of the elite:

With now a hundreds in T20Is as well, Shubman Gill became only the 5th Indian batsman to record a century in all three international formats. Suresh Raina was the first Indian to do so, followed by Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli.

Touted as India’s future star (although he’s the current star too), Shubman Gill ended his knock at 126*(63) – which is also now the highest T20I score by an Indian batsman, surpassing Virat Kohli’s 112* vs Afghanistan from last year’s Asia Cup and Rohit Sharma’s 118 vs Sri Lanka from 2017.

Courtesy of this fantastic hundred from the opener, and other quickfire knocks from Rahul Tripathi, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya, India finished with a massive total of 234.
