IND vs NZ: Shubman Gill Smashes His Own ‘Teammate’ In Indore

6 fours and a six – Shubman Gill smashed his own former Gujarat Titans teammate, fast bowler Lockie Ferguson when the duo clashed in Indore in the 3rd ODI of the series on Tuesday.

Gill has attained a belligerent form this month and has now ransacked 3 centuries – including a double hundred – in his last 4innings. The latest of his three-figure score – his 4th overall in ODIs – came in Indore when he tore into Ferguson, one of the fastest bowlers in the world.

While Ferguson might intimidate other batters around the world with his fiery pace, Gill hammered the Kiwi speedster with utter disdain. It had also helped Gill that he’d faced plenty of Ferguson in the nets during their time together in the IPL 2022, when both of them helped Gujarat Titans win the IPL 2022 trophy.

If you’d look at the array of shots Gill produced today, you’d think that he’s already an experienced player in the international arena. But, the 23-year-old is only 21 ODI innings old, wherein he averages 73 and has struck his 1254 runs at a commendable strike rate of 109. Gill has cracked 4 centuries and 5 fifties (a total of 9 50+ scores) in 21 innings so far.

Gill had already pushed Shikhar Dhawan out of the ODI team and has recently even overshadowed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

In the 8th over of India’s innings in Indore, Shubman Gill showcased his mettle to the dangerous, fast and furious Lockie Ferguson, who was left baffled by Gill’s starry array of shots, and the areas the batters accessed made Ferguson feel helpless.

Here are some of the pictures of Shubman Gill’s splendid shot-making in Indore:

Today, on another flat pitch that has been a common theme of India’s home season so far, and at the small-sized Holkar stadium in Indore, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill made the most of the helpful conditions.

Taking the attack to New Zealand right from the onset of the innings, Rohit scored 101 runs in 85 balls with the help of 9 fours and 6 sixes, while Gill was even more aggressive: batting at a splendid strike rate of 143, the young opener whacked 112 runs in 78 balls, en route stroking 13 fours and 5 sixes.
