IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2023: Match Ratings Of The Indian Batsmen

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2023: In an action-packed yet truncated Asia Cup clash, India faced off against arch-rivals Pakistan. Sadly, rain interrupted what promised to be a high-voltage encounter. Both teams walked away with one point each, but the one innings we saw was worth its weight in gold. Despite both captains wanting to bat first under overcast conditions, it was Rohit Sharma who got his way. Here’s a rundown of how the Indian batsmen fared.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2023: Match Ratings Of The Indian Batsmen

Rohit Sharma: 2/10

Rohit Sharma looked promising initially. However, he scored only 11 runs off 22 balls. Shaheen Afridi’s altered length post a rain break did the trick, removing him and making his contribution inconsequential.

Shubman Gill: 1/10
Shubman Gill’s 10 runs off 32 balls further deepened India’s woes. Haris Rauf dismissed him, ensuring the top-order collapse continued. Gill offered little resistance, thus earning a low rating.

Virat Kohli: 1/10
Virat Kohli, often the mainstay of India’s batting, failed miserably. He managed only 4 runs off 7 balls. Afridi’s bowling was too hot to handle, leading to Kohli’s quick departure.

Shreyas Iyer: 4/10
Shreyas Iyer looked promising for a brief period. He scored 14 off 9 balls but fell to a brilliant catch. His cameo was exciting but ultimately too brief to be impactful.

Ishan Kishan: 8/10
Ishan Kishan turned the tables with a gritty 82 runs off 81 balls. His partnership with Hardik Pandya was the game-changer for India. With 9 fours and 2 sixes, Kishan displayed both flair and courage.

Hardik Pandya: 8.5/10
Hardik Pandya was arguably the star of the match for India. He scored an incredible 87 runs off 90 balls. His partnership with Kishan was worth its weight in gold, and his 7 fours and 1 six were timely.

Ravindra Jadeja: 4/10
Ravindra Jadeja played a supporting role, scoring 14 runs off 22 balls. His brief but crucial partnership with Pandya added some stability to India’s innings.

Shardul Thakur: 1/10
Shardul Thakur’s 3 runs off 3 balls didn’t contribute much. He left the crease almost as soon as he arrived, not adding much value to the team’s total.

Kuldeep Yadav: 2/10
Kuldeep Yadav managed only 4 runs off 13 balls. His contribution was minimal, and it highlighted the weakness in India’s lower middle order.

Jasprit Bumrah: 5/10
Jasprit Bumrah’s quick 16 off 14 balls were valuable lower-order runs. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t prevent India from being bowled out for 266.

Mohammed Siraj: N/A
Mohammed Siraj remained unbeaten with a single run off just one ball. His contribution was negligible, hence he can’t be rated.
