The Indian cricket team defeated their arch-rival Pakistan by 4 wickets to win their opening game of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Former Indian captain and batting maestro Virat Kohli played a crucial knock of an unbeaten 82 runs off 53 balls to help the Indian cricket team win this important game. It won’t be wrong to say that Virat Kohli gave the best gift to Indian cricket fans across the world as his sensational knock not just helped the Indian side defeat Pakistan but it also set the tone and mood for the festival of lights – Diwali.

On a pitch where the top-order and middle-order batsmen failed badly and went back into the hut, Virat stood tall and combined with Hardik Pandya to propel India to a famous win. The knock by Virat Kohli was so special that his captain, Rohit Sharma, and batting great Sachin Tendulkar hailed it as his best knock.

With captain Rohit Sharma, opener KL Rahul and power hitter Suryakumar Yadav walking to the pavilion, Kohli set the partnership of 113 runs with Pandya – who scored 40 runs, which led India to a winning streak. Earlier, India’s Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya clinched 3 wickets each. Mohd Shami also took two wickets and B Kumar clinched a wicket.

Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with amazing reactions from cricketers and fans alike on the stellar win of the Indian cricket team. However, the best tweets came from none other than the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

PM Modi also took to his social media after India’s stunning win against arch-rivals and hailed Virat Kohli for his spectacular innings. He also wished India all the best for the games ahead. He wrote:

“The India team bags a well fought victory! Congratulations for an outstanding performance today. A special mention to Virat Kohli for a spectacular innings in which he demonstrated remarkable tenacity. Best wishes for the games ahead.”
