Dinesh Karthik Gave A Fearless Finish To Indian Innings: After putting up a brilliant batting performance in the first T20I match, the Men in Blue failed to put up a similar batting show after the action shifted from New Delhi to Cuttack in the 2nd T20 match.
The Indian cricket team could only score 148/6 on the board after being asked to bat first. The Indian batting line-up collapsed miserably with Shreyas Iyer’s 35-ball 40 emerging as the highest individual score from the Indian side.
However, Dinesh Karthik once again came to India’s rescue with his finishing skills with a 21-ball-30-run cameo to help team India post a total of 148 runs against South Africa. Though he started slow and could only 9 runs off 16 balls, however, in the last 5 balls he switched gears and scored 21 runs, smashing 2 sixes and 2 fours.
Harshal Patel (12 not out from nine balls) gave him a good company as the duo together stitched a 36-run partnership in the last three overs.
Notably, Dinesh Karthik made his comeback to team India on the back of some strong performances in IPL 2022 where he scored 330 runs in 16 games for Royal Challengers Bangalore at a strike rate of 183.33. He emerged out as the best finisher in the IPL 2022.
In the first T20I match in Delhi, DK only faced two balls and remained unbeaten on 1. However, in the 2nd t20I match, he got the opportunity to showcase his finishing skills.
Meanwhile, fans were elated to see Karthik coming to the party after the batting collapse of the Indian cricket team in the second T20I against South Africa.
