INd vs SA: “Bumrah Crucial For India’s Comeback”: Bharat Arun Ahead Of 2nd Test

India’s bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be a key player for India in the upcoming second Test against South Africa, according to former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun. Arun believes that Bumrah’s exceptional skills and sharpness will make a significant impact on the team.

The Indian cricket team will lock horns with South Africa in the upcoming second Test match at Newlands in Cape Town starting from January 3. After a challenging loss by an innings and 32 runs in the first game in Centurion, the Rohit Sharma-led side will look to bounce back and level the series.

To achieve this, Indian bowlers, undoubtedly, will need to play a crucial role. The spotlight, in particular, will be on Jasprit Bumrah, the leader of the Indian bowling attack and vice-captain. He showcased excellent form in the first game and emerged as the standout performer among the Indian bowlers.

Jasprit Bumrah displayed a commendable performance by taking four wickets in the match and consistently delivering impeccable lines and lengths. He proved to be a constant challenge for the South African batters. Unfortunately, he lacked support from the other end, as the remaining pacers struggled to contain runs and capitalize on the pressure created by him.

India needs Jasprit Bumrah to shine in the next match to bounce back in the series. If he performs well, it will boost India’s chances. Bharat Arun says Bumrah, a smart bowler, should not only focus on his bowling but also guide other bowlers. His role is crucial.

Bharat Arun is sure that Jasprit Bumrah and the rest of the bowlers have worked out their game plans.  Speaking to RevSportz, Bharat Arun explained:

Huge, huge! It is not only about his bowling, but also how he marshals the other bowlers becomes extremely important. Knowing Bumrah, he’s very very keen, he is extremely sharp. He’s a very, very thinking bowler too.”

He added: “And I’m sure the bowlers must have sat together, they would have reworked their strategies and Bumrah will have a major role to play in the bowlers coming back for the next Test match.”

Bharat Arun pointed out the disappointing show by Indian bowlers in the first Test, emphasizing that their international experience should have helped them adapt to the conditions. Arun acknowledged that Jasprit Bumrah lacked support from the other pacers, resulting in leaked runs. He said:

I think bowlers at international level should be able to adapt a lot more easily than bowlers who are just starting. With the experience that the Indian team has, I think we should have adapted. Bumrah bowled exceptionally well but the rest of them, I don’t think they supported him much the way they should have.”

He added:

“At least don’t give away so many runs at that pace. The pace at which they get the runs becomes very important for them to set up Test matches.”
