IND vs WI: 10 Best Tweets On India’s Series Win After 5th T20I: On Sunday, the Indian men’s cricket team registered as dominating a victor as they would have hoped for in the fifth and last T20I of the series against West Indies, in Florida.
India, who already were missing a few first-choice players due to rest or injury, further rung in four changes as they had already won the series with a 3-1 lead. Even skipper Rohit Sharma took a rest from the last T20I, along with Suryakumar Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rishabh Pant. Hardik Pandya, who was rested from the previous game, came in and led the side today.
Despite this, India managed a massive victory by 88 runs, West Indies bowled out for 100 while chasing India’s total of 188.
Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. Shreyas Iyer scored his first T20I fifty in 10 innings after the IPL 2022 and put a claim to be in the Asia Cup squad. Iyer, opening the batting alongside Kishan, smashed 64 runs off 40 balls, supported by Deepak Hooda’s 38 off 25 balls, who incidentally is also competing for a middle-order spot with Iyer.
Kishan and Samson, the two other batters fighting for a place in India’s squad, though, both got out for less than 15 each. Pandya thumped 28 off 16 balls to finish India at 188.
In a weird decision by West Indies, Jason Holder was promoted to open the innings; the move failed miserably as Holder was bowled for a duck in the first over by Axar Patel, who eventually finished with brilliant bowling figures of 3-1-15-3, after taking the wickets of the other two top-order batters, Shamarh Brooks and Devon Thomas.
Returning from an injury and playing his first game for India after the IPL, Kuldeep Yadav got on a roll as soon as he was handed the ball – the chinaman nipped out three wickets, including that of West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran to finish with figures of 4-1-12-3.
But is was Ravi Bishnoi who bagged the most wickets today – 4/16 in 2.4 overs, including the dismissal of half-centurion Hetmyer and the dangerous Powell.
Netizens went on a spirited celebration after India outplayed West Indies in four of the five T20Is in this series.
