The Indian team is ready to play a three-match t20 series against the mighty West Indies led by Kieron Pollard this month. The first match is scheduled on the 6th day of December,2019 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

With the World Cup just 10 months away, the Indian management would like to build a constant core team for the major tournament. The selectors will have to intensively study each player’s form and temperament before selecting the 15 man squad for the World t20. On the other side, the players will look forward to performing well under immense pressure to prove their mettle. Here is a look at the top Indian players for whom this series is like a ticket to the World Cup squad or just an opportunity for further survival:

1) Kuldeep Yadav

Since making his international debut in 2017, Kuldeep has been a regular face in the Indian team. His initial success was marked by healthy performances in South Africa and England but the recent series of low performances have seen the leg spinner fall in terms of rankings.
This fall started during the IPL 2019 where the chinaman claimed only 4 wickets in 9 matches. He would like to outshine the other young leg-spinners and cement his place in the squad at the earliest.

2) K.L Rahul

The Karnataka batsman has enjoyed a rich patch in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year. Rahul’s brilliance helped his state win the domestic tournament and now the versatile opened would want to take advantage of Shikhar Dhawan’s injury in building his case. Lokesh has scored 192 runs in 6 t20 games this year. With an average of 38.40 and a strike rate of 134.26, Rahul has a bright chance of sealing the opener’s spot.

3) Ravindra Jadeja

This left-arm finger spinner will replace Krunal Pandya in this series. Jadeja’s performance in tests and one-day games has been extraordinary but he would have to make a similar statement in the shortest format to take place in the World T20. The selection committee will have their eyes fixed on Jadeja’s contributions and a decision for the future will be made.

4) Shreyas Iyer

After earning a regular spot in the team after the World Cup, Shreyas’s batting abilities seem to be solving India’s middle-order woes in white-ball cricket. However, with other options emerging, the Mumbai batsman will have to maintain his top game and lead the race.
Shreyas Iyer’s attacking approach has worked out for the team, this series will see him compete with the best hard hitters of the world

5) Rishabh Pant

This name has been raising many brows for quite some time now and Rishabh’s inclusion in the 15 man squad against West Indies could be one of his last chances to prove himself as an ideal wicketkeeper-batsman. The Delhi based hard-hitters’ form has been under criticism for a long time and it’s high time the Pant answers all the questions by contributing significantly with the bat. His wicketkeeping skills were also questioned during the Bangladesh series.
