3 Times Indian Captain Had Heated Fight With Umpires

The umpires are there for reasons. To adjudicate without any bias and make sure that game moves in a smooth, timely manner, and the rules are followed by one and all. Sometimes the players aren’t too different than school kids complaining to their teachers when it comes to arguing with the umpires.

Some of the Indian players have, at times, shown the attitude of proper bullies on the field, their arrogance and ruthless attitude bubbling outside, their actions and mindset suggesting that they are properly secured and protected by the BCCI, the richest and the most powerful cricket board in the world, plus their fans who’d rain down on social media if any action is taken against their favorite player who they have put on a pedestal close to a demi-god.

Here are three famous instances of Indian captains having heated fights with umpires:

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni loses his temper on a rare occasion against Billy Bowden

During the 2012 CB Series in Australia, MS Dhoni lost his temper more than once. He did it 2-3 times in the press conferences, while on the field he had a proper quarrel with respected umpire Billy Bowden of all umpires.

In a game against Australia, India and MS Dhoni had appealed for a stumping of Mike Hussey. Replays suggested clearly – and it was also visible to the players on the field through the giant screen – that Hussey’s leg was inside the crease.

To the shock of everyone, the giant screen flashed OUT. As Hussey started to walk, Billy Bowden recalled the Aussie batter, citing that the third umpire had pressed the wrong button.

But MS Dhoni was having none of it and it harangue even the umpire Billy Bowden. The pair had a lengthy chat in the middle, and eventually, Hussey was told to continue batting.

Here, check out it here:

Virat Kohli shows frustration and anger to umpires

Virat Kohli is someone who wears his heart on his sleeves and never shies away from showing his emotions on the field, even if it is against the umpires.

During one of the T20I matches on the 2018/19 Australia tour, when India were bowling the rain arrived heavily. There were plenty of umbrellas out in the crowd, yet the umpires weren’t taking the players off the field. With rain pouring down and the outfield getting wet, the Indian bowlers were having trouble in gripping the ball.

This made Virat Kohli really furious and the then India captain had a go at the two umpires, arguing with them in the middle of the ground.

Harmanpreet Kaur hits the stumps with her bat, lashes out at the Bangladesh umpire

The India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur recently had a wild outburst against the Bangladeshi umpires. After being unhappy for being given out lbw by the on-field umpire – who was from the host country – Harmanpreet Kaur smashed the stumps with her bat. As she started walking toward the dressing room, Harmanpreet lashed out the at the umpire, hurling some strong words down to the official.

Later on, when both captains were called to the podium to share the trophy – as the series ended in 1-1 – Harmanpreet Kaur said to the Bangladeshi skipper to bring the umpires as well because they were playing from Bangladesh’s side.
