When India reached the final of World Test Championship, a vast majority of fans across the world had painted India as favourites to lift the first ever WTC trophy. But, it turned out to be the other way around as New Zealand held their nerves and defeated India in the big final. It was one of the most disappointing moments of 2021 for Indian cricket fans.
2) Virat Kohli’s inability to score his 71st international hundred
India’s Test captain Virat Kohli failed to break the deadlock as he remained stuck on 70 international hundreds. Indian cricket fans were hoping that Virat Kohli will score his 71st hundred and keep marching forward, but much to their disappointment, he couldn’t and the wait is still on…
3) Demoralising T20 World Cup 2021
India lost their first ever ICC World Cup match against Pakistan and gave their worst ever performance in a T20 World Cup in 2021. It was a forgetful tournament for India because the team looked completely out of colour. But, having said that, it will be a tough one for Indian cricket fans to forget that it led to India’s first ever defeat against Pakistan in ICC tournaments.
4) Rift between Virat Kohli and the BCCI
Virat Kohli and the BCCI were up against each other after it was announced that Rohit Sharma will lead India’s ODI squad and Kohli will no more be the ODI captain of India. It was the first time ever that an Indian captain and the board were up against each other in public domain, and it was a very tough one to swallow for the Indian cricket fans.
