The Indian cricket team is one that sets the trend for the entire country to follow – be it in terms of their athleticism or in their style. One person who the nation loves to follow when it comes to style is none other than Virat Kohli, the captain.

He has lost a tremendous amount of weight over the past four years and looks like a million bucks.

Virat has managed to even transcend cricket to become India’s top target man when it comes to advertising. His good looks, coupled with his charisma and infectious personality make him the ideal candidate to star for any ads.

Beard obsession:

It would be safe to say that Virat Kohli started the craze for growing beards in the country. Kohli grew the beard to hide his slightly chubby face but the look seems to suit him and has ended up in making others also follow suit.

Over the past two or three years, nearly every single Indian player has grown a beard – each one as funkier as the other. Right from the top order – Murali Vijay, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and KL Rahul who each have their own style of facial hair, down to the middle order – Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik,  Yuvraj, Dhoni for a while down to Hardik Pandya, Suresh Raina, Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin to Mohammad Shami and Amit Mishra, each one has sported facial growth at some point in time.

Though we have nothing against them doing so, it is an indicator of how the trends are changing when it comes to facial hair. Not more than a decade ago, the likes of Dravid, Gambhir Ganguly and Laxman all sported clean faces but it seems that cricketers today are getting too lazy to head to the barber for a shave.

As long as it wins us matches, please keep growing them! #BreakTheBeard or #GrowTheBeard?
