The eleventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) is in its full flow and we are enjoying the T20 extravaganza between the 8 franchises. Every year, stars, legends and new names from the world of cricket get together in India and participate in the biggest T20 festival in the world.
In the last 11 years, IPL has become a massive brand and fans across the world wait for it every year. And the world of cricket should be thankful to the tournament for giving so many stars and also providing a platform where young and lesser known players can share the dressing room with the best players in the world.
We have almost reached the mid-stage of IPL 2018 and it would be fair to say that the tournament has been a huge success so far. The likes of MS Dhoni, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, who are the legends of world cricket and IPL, have been in outmoding form. Also, young guns like Shreyas Iyer, Mayank Markande, Nitish Rana and a few others have impressed one and with their talent and consistent performances.
However, in this post, we will have a look at 4 players who should be dropped from their respective team for their ordinary performances.
1) Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings)
Ravindra Jadeja is a quality cricketer but he is going through a very lean patch in his career. He is no more a part of India’s limited overs teams and his performance in IPL 2018 (so far) has been forgettable.
In 6 matches, Ravindra Jadeja has scored just 47 runs at an average of 15.66. In the bowling department, he has been highly ineffective and has taken just 1 wicket and at one economy of 8.40.
2) Yuvraj Singh (Kings XI Punjab)
One of the cleanest hitters of the ball in game’s history, Yuvraj Singh is not as fit as he used to be and, consequently, he is not the force he is and will always be known for. In IPL 2018, Yuvi’s performance for KXIP has been below average and it’s time the management start looking beyond him.
In 6 matches, Yuvraj Singh has scored 50 runs at an average of 12.50.
3) Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians)
The Big West Indian all-rounder has been with Mumbai Indians since the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but it’s time that the management start to look beyond him and give chance to players like JP Duminy, who has been sitting on the bench and waiting for his turn.
In 6 matches of IPL 2018 so far, Kieron Pollard has scored 63 runs at an average of 15.75 and a strike rate of 110.52.
4) Wriddhiman Saha (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Wriddhiman Saha was released by KXIP and he was picked by SRH in the auctions with a hope that he will carry on his good show from the previous season and add more stability and power to their batting line up. But, unfortunately for SRH and Saha, this has”t been the case. His work behind the stumps has been good but, with his willow, he has only contributed 68 runs in 7 matches.
