IPL All-Star Match: In a recent meeting of the Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council, it was decided that BCCI will host an all-star match ahead of IPL 2020. The match will include the players from all the eight franchises in the 13th edition of the IPL. The next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) begins on March 29, and the IPL all-star match will be played three days prior to the opening game.

It was also confirmed that the IPL all-star match will be played for the purpose of charity. It is the first time in history that such a fixture is being organized ahead of a new IPL season. As per reports in ESPNCricinfo, the decision to host an all-star match was proposed by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel.

In a recent meeting held in New Delhi, this was one of the major calls that were taken along with the decision to host IPL final at Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2020. The IPL season opener will also be played in Mumbai with defending champions Mumbai Indians all set to feature in the opening fixture.

The IPL all-star match will be first of its kind where two teams involving players based upon region will lock horns ahead of the IPL season. If the reports are to be believed, it was understood that one team will comprise players from North and East India, while another team will be formed of players from South and West India.

As a result, players from Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Kolkata Knight Riders will form the first team, while Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, will lead the formation of the opposition.

It will be a treat for the fans as they might get to witness the likes of Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers playing together as a part of the same XI. On the other hand, some of the most explosive players in KL Rahul, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, Chris Gayle might form the core of the other team.
