Royal Challengers Bangalore who hasn’t won the IPL even once has bought some players at a huge price over the years. They have spent a lot of money in the Auctions but still haven’t been able to convert that into a title-winning performance. Some prime examples of RCB spending huge money in Auctions are Tymal Mills in 2016 and Yuvraj Singh in 2014. Both these players were bought in excess of 12 CR which is a huge amount in an IPL Auction.
They have released some big players and have a huge purse going into this year’s auction. The IPL 2021 Auction is going to be held on 18th February and RCB needs to spend a lot of money as they have to fill a lot of spots. It would be interesting to see how much money does RCB spend in this auction. So, on that note, let’s have a look at the five richest cricketers in RCB.
5. Mohammed Siraj – 13 CR
Mohammed Siraj who impressed one and all with his great bowling in Australia has been a part of the RCB franchise over the last 3 years. RCB bought him in the 2018 Mega Auction and they have retained him for the upcoming season as well. Siraj started his IPL career in SRH where he was bought for 2.6 CR. Siraj’s father was a rickshaw driver and he had never seen that much money, so it was great to see his hard work paying off.
RCB bought him for the same price in the Mega Auction and since then he has been with them at the same price. Overall, Siraj has earned 13 CR from his IPL career.
4. Kane Richardson – 15.7 CR
Kane Richardson started his IPL career with Pune Warriors India where his salary was 3.7 CR. He then played a couple of seasons with Rajasthan Royals where he got 1 CR as his salary. He was part of the 2016 RCB team which reached the finals and his salary for that season was 2 CR.
Over the last two seasons, he has been a part of the RCB squad for 4 CR but unfortunately, he missed the last season due to personal reasons. Richardson has earned 15.7 CR throughout his IPL career.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal – 24.7 CR
India’s leading leg-spinner in the white-ball formats has earned 24.7 CR from his IPL career. For the first seven years in IPL, even when he was with Mumbai Indians, he got only 10 Lakhs as he was bought at his base price. It was in the 2018 Mega IPL Auction when he got a bid of 6 CR.
RCB used the RTM card for him and since 2018 he has been retained at the same price. So, in the last four years, he has made the most of his IPL money which is 24 CR out of his 24.7 CR.
2. AB De Villiers – 102.5 CR
AB De Villiers became the first overseas player to enter the 100 CR club as he was retained by Royal challengers Bangalore before the upcoming season. When he was with the Delhi Capitals in the first three seasons his salary wasn’t huge because he wasn’t that big a star at that time.
RCB bought him for 5 CR in 2011 and retained him for the next three seasons. He again got retained before the 2014 Mega Auction at a price of 9.5 CR and before the last Mega Auction in 2018 he was retained at 11 CR. Over the last three seasons, he gets the same price. RCB’s Mr. 360 became the first overseas player to enter the 100 Crore club as he has earned 102.5 CR from his IPL career.
1. Virat Kohli – 143.2 CR
Virat Kohli who earns 17 CR from one IPL season currently, used to get 12 Lakhs when he started his IPL career at Royal challengers Bangalore. In 2011, RCB only retained Virat Kohli at a price of 8.2 CR. In 2013, Kohli became the RCB captain and when he was retained in 2014 his salary increased to 12.5 CR.
In 2018, when Virat Kohli was retained before the Mega Auction he became the highest-paid player as he was retained for 17 CR. No other player in the history of the IPL has got that much money for a single season. Kohli still earns the same amount and as a result, he has earned 143.2 CR from his IPL career.
