Mumbai Indians‘ disastrous journey in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League ended on a high note with a win against Delhi Capitals on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai Indians’ young talent Dewald Brevis, who is fondly called Baby AB, helped the five-time IPL champs knock Rishab Pant-led Delhi Capitals out of the IPL 2022 playoffs race on Saturday.

The 19-year-old sensational batter from South Africa played a decent knock of 37 off 33 balls, smashing three sixes and one four, to help his side chase the target of 160 runs with a wicket in hand and with five balls remaining.

Apart from this knock, Brewis impressed one and all with his performances in the ongoing season of IPL. He was signed by the Mumbai Indians on the back of his stellar displays at the U19 Cricket World Cup earlier this year. Batting at No 3, Baby AB had announced himself with a stunning 29 off 19 balls in his first match against Kolkata Knight Riders in early April.

Dewald Brevis has featured in 7 games off the 14 games they played in the tournament and scored 161 runs at an average of 23.00 and a strike rate of 142.48. The teenage batting sensation can be well pleased with the performances he gave in his first season in the Indian Premier League. Brevis also showed his batting prowess as he smashed 19 fours and 12 sixes during the season.

Meanwhile, as the season came to an end for Mumbai Indians, Brewis took to his social media and wrote a beautiful farewell message for his MI family. He wrote:

“No distance of place or lapse in time can separate me from my Mumbai family. Thank you for the support and wonderful memories. See you soon…..💙💙💙”
