Former India opener Virender Sehwag landed himself in deep waters with his tweet following Pat Cummins’ onslaught against Mumbai Indians that helped Kolkata Knight Riders chase down 162 in 16 overs. Fans fumed over Sehwag for mentioning ‘Vada Pav’ in his tweet.

KKR needed 61 runs from 41 balls when Pat Cummins came in to bat at number 7 at the fall of Andre Russell’s wicket and the game hung in balance; Cummins, however, finished off the game with four overs to spare, hammering 56 runs from 15 balls, with the help of 6 sixes and 4 fours, en route equalling KL Rahul’s record of fastest IPL fifty in 14 balls.

IPL 2022: Did Virender Sehwag Insult Rohit Sharma?

As everyone on Twitter went into a frenzied mode, Virender Sehwag, who is known for his outspoken opinions, wrote that KKR and Cummins pulled the victory out of MI’s mouth and used ‘Vada Pav’ in his tweet.

“Moonh se nivala cheen liya ,, sorry vada pav cheen liya. Pat Cummins, one of the most insane display of clean hitting , 15 ball 56 …Jeera Batti,” Virender Sehwag tweeted as KKR downed MI.

This enraged the Rohit Sharma and Mumbai Indians fans very much as they thought the ‘vada pav’ reference was with their skipper, who is often trolled with his reference on social media for his physique.

Looking at the furious reactions of fans, Virender Sehwag then explained his tweet, saying that the ‘Vada pav’ was used for the city of Mumbai which is famous for this particular food item. He also shot back at netizens who reckoned Sehwag insulted the MI captain, saying that he is a bigger Rohit Sharma fan than most people.

“The Vada Pav reference is for Mumbai, a city which thrives on Vada Pav. Rohit fans thanda lo , I am a bigger fan of his batting much more than most of you guys,” Virender Sehwag explained.

While KKR now take the top spot in the points table with 3 wins in 4 matches, MI, the 5-time champions, have lost all their three matches and are pushed down to the 9th position, just above SRH.
