Fans have been left elated with the news that the gorgeous and talented sports anchor Mayanti Langer is set to return to host the upcoming IPL 2022 after missing the last two seasons.
Mayanti Langer, who had been a regular face in cricket shows for Star Sports in the better part of the last decade, opted out of her broadcasting role for the past two years due to the birth of her child. Mayanti is married to India all-rounder Stuart Binny.
“Quite a few of you have reached out and many are speculating. For the past five years, my family at Star Sports has given me the incredible privilege of fronting their most high-profile events,” Mayanti had explained her absence from the IPL in 2020 via a tweet.
“In fact, they supported me when I needed them the most. When I was pregnant with my son. They made several adjustments to ensure that I was comfortable hosting till I was 20 weeks/five months pregnant. I would have continued so had IPL 2020 gone on as scheduled. Stuart and I were blessed by the birth of our baby boy six weeks ago. Life has changed for the better,” she added.
The Star Sports anchoring panel included Suren Sundaram, Kira Narayanan, Suhail Chandhok, Nashpreet Kaur, Sanjana Ganesan, Jatin Sapru, Tanya Purohit, Anant Tyagi, Dheeraj Juneja and Neroli Meadows over the past couple of seasons. This team becomes stronger now with the return of Mayanti Langer, who has been praised by fans for her command over hosting, knowledge of the game, and her interaction with the cricketers.
Meanwhile, the IPL has gotten bigger with the addition of two new franchises – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants – and will now host 70 league matches, which will be played across four stadiums in Mumbai and Pune. The playoffs are likely to be held in Ahmedabad.
It has recently been reported that 25 percent capacity crowds will be allowed for the games.
