Rishabh Pant has always been the unfortunate one to be the heir of MS Dhoni, for the comparisons with the legendary India skipper and former wicket-keeper followed the youngster horrifically in his early days since he made his international debut.
Even now, too, fans don’t shy away from criticising and comparing Pant with MS Dhoni whenever he does a blunder, either with captaincy or while keeping or while batting.

The Delhi Capitals skipper was once again at the receiving end of heavy trolls and flak from social media users in IPL 2022, on Thursday, when he burnt both his reviews in quick succession while playing against the Lucknow Super Giants at the DY Patil Stadium.
In the chase of 150, LSG got off to the desired start with Quinton de Kock taking the DC bowlers to the cleaners while KL Rahul, the LSG skipper, played the anchor role.
As de Kock kept attacking and taking the game away from DC, Rishabh Pant brought on his X-factor, the in-form Kuldeep Yadav in the 8th over who immediately troubled the South African. De Kock went for the reverse sweep but missed the connection, the ball hitting him on his pads. The umpire, though, denied the LBW appeal; Kuldeep convinced Pant to take the review.
To their dismay, QDK had clearly gloved it – so clearly that the third umpire didn’t need an UltraEdge either, leaving Pant and Kuldeep embarrassed.
It was about to get more frustrating for Pant as he lost his second review just a couple of overs later. Off-spinner Lalit Yadav had struck Evin Lewis on his front pad as he missed his sweep. Pant went loud in his appeal as he felt it was really close.
The umpire once again denied Pant’s vehement appeal and the DC skipper again challenged the decision. And again it went in the batsman’s favour as the slider was sliding down the leg side. In such tight games, as it went down the last over, having a review up your sleeve could be really handy.
Fans on social media didn’t hide from mocking, and trolling Pant for profligating the reviews; some even felt the DC should have retained Shreyas Iyer instead of Pant as their skipper.
Here are some of the reactions of Twitterati on Rishabh Pant wasting both the reviews:
