IPL 2022: Krunal Pandya Is Getting Trolled After His Hilarious Mix-Up With Deepak Hooda

One of the talking points of the mega-auction in February was that Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda were bought by Lucknow Super Giants because of their tussle last year that saw Hooda leave the Baroda cricket team.

Both have, though, resolved their issues prior to the start of IPL 2022 and were ready to work with each other for the team’s cause. They have done well for LSG so far. But on Friday, at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Krunal Pandya was trolled for being involved in Deepak Hooda’s run out versus Punjab Kings.

In the 14th over of LSG’s innings, Hooda was run out by a brilliant direct hit from Jonny Bairstow, however, the LSG number 3 should have done better to get back in the crease in time instead of his sloppy running that saw him getting dismissed on 34 runs.

A short ball from Arshdeep Singh was pulled by Krunal Pandya. Jonny Bairstow, who was positioned at deep square leg, ran a few metres to his right to collect the ball and threw it on one bounce to the non-striker’s end.

What should have been an easy couple of runs now suddenly became a chance of a run-out because Hooda showed laxness while returning for the second run and was merely jogging.

Upon realizing that the throw is at his end, he sped up, however, he was a bit too late by then as Bairstow’s throw bounced a couple of yards in front of the stumps and then hit the top of the stumps with Hooda found short; a dive perhaps could have saved him. Krunal, at the other end, looked upset with Hooda for his careless running.

Hooda’s wicket came after Quinton de Kock’s dismissal, which meant two new batters at the crease. That turned out to be fateful for Lucknow as they collapsed from 98/1 to 111/6 in a space of four overs, eventually ending up with a par total of 153.

Fans saw the funny side of this considering the history between Krunal and Hooda and came out with some hilarious reactions.

For the unversed, Deepak Hooda had last year stormed out of Baroda’s training session and the team ahead of their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign. He had alleged that his Baroda captain Krunal Pandya of using “abusive language” in front of teammates and for “dadagiri (bullying)” during the practice camp, saying he is “demoralised” and “depressed” due to the conduct of Krunal.
