IPL 2022 Injury-List: The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) got underway last week. Two new teams – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants – have been added from this season to make the tournament even bigger, the league stage games extending to 70 now.
However, many teams are still not at their full strength; the Delhi Capitals, for example, had only two overseas players available for their first match against Mumbai, with their other overseas stars either injured or on national duty.
More than half of the teams are dealing with foreign player unavailability due to their international matches for the early part of the tournament.

Some teams have also been hit with injuries to their key players. Here are the players who are unavailable for IPL 2022 till now due to injuries:
Suryakumar Yadav
Mumbai Indians missed their key batsman Suryakumar Yadav in their first encounter versus Delhi. Suryakumar suffered a hairline thumb fracture during the home T20I series against West Indies and had to miss the following Sri Lanka series as well.
Thankfully for the 5-time champions, SKY has been cleared fit from the NCA and has already joined the MI hotel. He will be available for MI’s next game – on April 2 against Rajasthan Royals.
Deepak Chahar
Defending champions CSK have been dealt a huge blow as pace-bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar has been ruled out for the majority of IPL 2022, if not full, with a quadriceps injury that he sustained during the West Indies T20Is. Chahar was bought for 14 crore by CSK at the mega-auction.
Anrich Nortje
Although Anrich Nortje has joined the Delhi Capitals squad ahead of the IPL 2022, he was not deemed fit to play against Mumbai. The Protea speedster has been dealing with hip and back issues, which is likely to keep him out for a few more matches.
Mitchell Marsh
Delhi Capitals have been left in further worries as Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has suffered a hip injury and will miss the white-ball games in Pakistan. This has put doubt over when Marsh will be available for IPL 2022; he was already going to miss the first week due to the series in Pakistan.
Mark Wood
England fast bowler Mark Wood, who was picked by Lucknow Super Giants in the mega-auction for INR 7.5 crore, has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2022 due to picking up an elbow injury during the Test series in West Indies. While Wood had been undergoing his surgery on returning to England, LSG announced his replacement: Australian pacer Andrew Tye.
The Super Giants will also miss Jason Holder and Marcus Stoinis early on as both are on national duty.
Jofra Archer
England fast bowler Jofra Archer will miss the entire IPL 2022 after undergoing a second elbow operation. Despite knowing this, the Mumbai Indians went on to purchase him for INR 8 crore in the mega-auction, keeping an eye on the future.
