IPL 2022: The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group-owned Lucknow Super Giants made their IPL debut on Monday night at the Wankhede Stadium, against the other IPL debutant franchise, Gujarat Titans.
The Lucknow squad for IPL 2022 bolstered power-hitters starting from the top – KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, Evin Lewis, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder along with talented bowlers like Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, and Avesh Khan.
While fans were excited to see these players take the field, when they did eventually, fans expressed dislike over the Lucknow kit colour, which the franchise had said was “synonymous with the young, full of energy LSG team”.
It had orange-coloured striped on the shoulders, front and behind. There was also a three-dimensional line work “representation of the Garuda” and “strategically placed on the jersey to enhance the male body contours”. The jersey also featured highlights in saffron and green, as an extension of the LSG logo colours.
Well, for everything, fans just didn’t like what they saw on their television screens, with Lucknow players wearing the loosely worn, light shaded jerseys, in IPL 2022.
Netizens heavily trolled the aqua marine blue kit of the Super Giants:
I need to talk to the person who designed this Lucknow jersey. #IPL2022

I can only assume LSG batters are all making sure they don’t spend too much time in the middle to avoid being photographed too much in this kit. Reducing air time.

Meanwhile, speaking about the game, Lucknow started it horribly too, losing four wickets inside the powerplay after being asked to bat first by Titans captain Hardik Pandya. Mohammed Shami ran riot in the powerplay, dismissing Lucknow skipper KL Rahul on the first ball of the match, then followed it up with castling Quinton de Kock.
Varun Aaron joined in with Evin Lewis’ wicket before Shami once again went through the defences of another batsman, Manish Pandey.
After that, though, half-centuries from senior batter Deepak Hooda and IPL debutant Ayush Badoni and a late cameo from Krunal Pandya, helped Lucknow put up a fighting total of 158.
