IPL 2022: Aiming for a playoff spot, KL Rahul’s in-form Lucknow Super Giants will take on the floundering Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday evening at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. And while LSG will look to strengthen their top two positions, KKR will fight to keep their playoff hopes burning alive.
The Lucknow franchise has also come up with a brilliant initiative with respect to International Mother’s Day, which falls on the second Sunday of every May. LSG have announced that against KKR, the players will be wearing the jerseys with their mother’s names on their t-shirts.
The LSG players have donned a light blue jersey this season, but on the occasion of Mother’s Day, they will spot a grey attire with the players’ mothers’ names and numbers printed in Orange to celebrate this joyous day.
The official social media handle of the Lucknow Super Giants also posted a video of some of these new jerseys and captioned: “This one’s for you, Maa.” Now THAT’s how you prepare for Mother’s Day – the #SuperGiant way!”

LSG close to sealing playoff berth vs KKR and aim for top two
KL Rahul’s side has 14 points in 10 games and already have a foot in the playoffs. They are placed second ahead of the KKR game, behind Gujarat Titans who have 16 points in 11 matches but are now sliding down with two consecutive losses.
Owing to the good net run rate that LSG have, a victory against KKR will take them to the top spot in the points table.
Lucknow are arguably the most complete team of the tournament with no really visible holes. With Gujarat, Rajasthan and RCB struggling in their recent games, LSG have a good chance to grab a top-two spot and give themselves an extra cushion to reach the final. They are on a three-match winning streak and would want to continue on that.
